Start with the basics

Set up the game according to the included instructions on an appropriate, stable surface. Agree where each player will stand or sit, then take turns swinging the ring toward the hook.

Give everyone a couple of practice swings before scoring. If you're new to the game, treat early misses as part of the fun.

Try a first-to-three challenge

Each successful hook earns one point. Take turns until someone reaches three. This makes a quick game that works well for two players.

For groups, let the winner play the next challenger or rotate through everyone in a friendly queue.

Make it a best-of-five

Play five short rounds and count who wins the most. If players tie, hold a final sudden-death round: the first successful hook wins.

You can also switch sides halfway through to vary the feel of the game and keep everyone laughing.

Host a little tournament

Write the names of everyone who wants to play, pair them up, and record each matchup. Keep rounds short enough that people can watch and cheer for each other.

Our free game-night scorecard can generate suggested round-robin matchups in your browser. Choose your own scoring rules and let your group decide what victory looks like.
